CRACKS IN THE CEMENT
GALAR is a story rooted in the real experiences of people living through the defective blocks crisis in Donegal. It follows the life of a rural family as they deal with the slow breakdown of their home, a place they once felt safe in, now cracking and falling apart around them. This story is not just about buildings crumbling, but about what that does to people: the stress, the uncertainty, the fear that comes with losing something you’ve built your life around.
The film is based on true accounts from those directly affected by the Defective Block Crisis in Ireland. The film was shot all across Donegal, in actual homes and locations touched by the crisis.
