CRACKS IN THE CEMENT
GALAR is a story rooted in the real experiences of people living through the Defective Block Crisis in Donegal. It follows the life of a rural family as they deal with the slow breakdown of their home, a place they once felt safe in, now cracking and falling apart around them. This story is not just about buildings crumbling, but about what that does to people: the stress, the uncertainty, the fear that comes with losing something you’ve built your life around.
Just after beginning its festival run, Galar has already received several national and international awards, including Best International Short Film at Worcester Film Festival, Best Irish Short Film at Dublin International Short Film and Music Festival, and Best Actor at Disappear Here Film Festival in its home county of Donegal. The film continues to gather more nominations at upcoming festivals.
